Do you enjoy working with mathematical algorithms and crafting great user experiences on top of them? Are you excited about solving complex problems and turning our customers’ R&D dreams into reality?
Digisalix is still young and small, but our founders have built and exited companies earlier in their careers.
We tackle challenges involving maths, algorithms, and machine learning to craft neatly packaged software for our customers’ specific needs. We’ve optimised cargo packaging, planned routes for autonomous vehicles, and planned tasks for robots, among other things.
With us, you’ll be turning the visions of industrial researchers into software that solves actual problems in the real world.
Python is our go-to language (although no actual goto 🥁), and you should be fluent in Python and comfortable communicating in English. We currently use TypeScript/React & FastAPI for most UI development, and enjoy coding fast custom algorithms in C++. One of us even dreams of writing Rust on the job!
Nothing is set in stone and your input matters.
“Anything that can be solved with a good dose of mathematics, applied algorithmic acrobatics, and machine learning or statistical modelling as applicable is our forte”
YOU DON’T NEED TO BE A MYTHICAL CREATURE WHO FULFILS ALL OUR NEEDS.
Being strong in the core parts and curious about the rest is enough. Ideally you’re:
- Excited about maths, classical algorithms, and machine learning
- Ready to implement solutions all the way to user interfaces, joining forces with our CSS-savvy UI/UX designer so you don’t have to battle with stylesheets
- Comfortable reading academic papers on customer-relevant application domains, and even implementing your findings
- Willing to work directly with customers to understand their challenges and turn their ideas into real-world applications
- Able to treat vaguely specified and occasionally changing requirements as a shared adventure of discovery (that’s how we like it here, at the cutting edge)
We assume even good candidates won’t tick all the boxes – we’re happy to teach the rest over time. If you’re really all that, we’ll be impressed.
Bonus points for strong domain expertise (PhD or MSc combined with industrial experience) in some scientific or industrial field like robotics, automation, computer vision, computational chemistry or biology, human-computer interaction, etc.
In summary, we expect you to write top-notch Python code and build solutions based on what you learn from the customer. We’ll be happy to help & support, but you’ll need to do a fair bit of independent problem-solving.
ENOUGH ABOUT YOU, LET’S TALK ABOUT US!
By now, you probably have a good sense of what it’s like to work at Digisalix from a technical perspective. On the human side, we’re laid-back but highly focused on getting results for our customers. As an early hire in a small company, you’ll have a good chance to shape our future direction.
Digisalix is a remote-friendly company. We keep in touch with daily calls, weekly onsite day(s), and a monthly day for fun activity & discussions (superlähipäivä). We have a genuinely nice office next to Helsinki Central Railway Station with coffee and snacks. What else could you hope for?
At least in the beginning, you need to be able to travel to our Helsinki office daily and later on weekly. We are happy to consider candidates who don’t speak Finnish. Unfortunately we can’t help with relocation or work permits.
We offer a salary of 4 700 – 7 000 € per month, plus the possibility of ownership. You’ll also get occupational health care, and sports & culture benefits.
Please send your application to join-us@digisalix.fi by December 7th at the latest. We will be reading the applications as they arrive and set up interviews as soon as possible. The recruitment process will involve two or three rounds of interviews depending on the candidate.
We’re excited to hear what you’d bring to Digisalix.
